About Me

We formed our business in 2004 as an increasing number of individuals were approaching Tony for helicopter flying lessons. The Irish Aviation Authority registered school was then set up.

Tony McAleer is a senior captain with CHC Ireland, flying their twin turbine Dauphin 365N, which services the Kinsale Gas Field. Tony started flying in 1988 and achieved his Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL) in 1990. Since obtaining his CPL he has managed to average approximately 400 flying hours per year, flying either in commercial helicopter operations or doing flight instruction on helicopter and/or aeroplanes.

He now holds a JAR ATPLH (European Airline Transport Pilots Licence helicopter), which only few helicopter pilots in Ireland hold.

His commercial helicopter experience started off in the instructional and charter market for Westair, under Brian Carpenter. He progressed to Gulf Helicopters who are involved in offshore and desert operations all over the Middle East. He then moved back to Cork and began working with CHC. CHC are the largest helicopter company in the world, working mainly in offshore operations and Search & Rescue. During his time flying helicopters he gained his aeroplane licences and instructed for South Aer on their single and twin engine aircraft.

Tony McAleer is an appointed Irish Aviation Authority Flight Examiner. He examines pilots for the grant of Private and Commercial licences on both aeroplane and helicopter.

He also examines for different type and class ratings, flight instructor ratings and instrument ratings (i.e. allowing them to fly in cloud).

He is currently the only pilot in Ireland qualified to instruct and examine on both helicopters and aeroplanes.

During his aviation career to date, he has been involved in the purchase and management of many aircraft.
